Books By Mail
Books by Mail is a FREE service available to residents of all ages that are homebound or in assisted care.
Patrons are sent checked out items free of charge through USPS to their home address.
Items are then returned in a provided prepaid postage mailer through USPS.
Patrons must reside in Lake County and have a Lake County library card in good standing to participate in the Books by Mail program.
How to Apply
Follow the steps below to apply for the Books by Mail program:
- Get a Books by Mail application by downloading this form or emailing
to servreq@mylakelibrary.org

Submit the completed application one of these ways:
- Submit digital form via email (contact servreq@mylakelibrary.org for digital application)
- Send printed form in the mail to:

- Applications may also be dropped off at any Lake County library location. They will be forwarded to the Books by Mail office.
Once applications have been received and verified, you will be contacted with further information.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible for the Books by Mail program?
Lake County residents with a Lake County library card in good standing that are homebound or in assisted care and are unable to travel to a library location.
What if I don't have a library card or if my card has expired?
If you do not have a library card or if your card has expired, you can register for a card or renew a card using the Books by Mail application
Can I check out DVD's using the Books by Mail program?
Yes! DVD's, audiobooks, and audiobook devices can be sent.
Can I reserve titles that are not available right now?
If a title you request is part of the circulating collection but is currently not available, we will reserve it for you and send it to you in a future delivery.
What if I am no longer eligible for the Books by Mail program?
If you have been receiving Books by Mail and are no longer eligible, please contact Library Services at
