Virtual cards for Lake County students

Lake County Schools, Lake County Library System. Books. Sun.

The Lake County Library System and Lake County Schools have partnered to offer free virtual library cards to students.

Over 43,000 public school students in grades K-12 can now use their student ID number to access digital resources from the library system. These resources include:

  • Tutor.com: one-on-one online tutoring for 200+ academic subjects, college prepratory tests, essay reviews and resume building.
  • LinkedIn Learning: 16,000+ video courses taught by experts covering software, buisiness and creative skills.
  • Tumblebooks: ebooks, audiobooks, digital puzzles & games for grades K-5.
  • TumbleMath: animated math picture books, quizzes and lessons for grades K-5.
  • Pronunciator: the world’s largest language learning tool with 160+ languages available.
  • Overdrive/Libby: ebooks, audiobooks and digital movies.
  • Flipster: 30+ digital magazines.
  • And more!

All digital resources can be found by visiting www.mylakelibrary.org/databases. Virtual library cards remain active while the student ID is active. There are no fines or late fees associated with digital content. Additionally, students can use their student ID number to sign into library computers. Parents and caregiveres may register their children for a separate physical library card to check out items from the library.

"We know that reading is key to lifelong learning, so virtual library cards are a great benefit to our students as they will make so many valuable resources available to them,” said Diane Kornegay, superintendent of Lake County Schools. “We appreciate Lake County Library Services for their partnership and continued support of our students."

“This is a very exciting program and another way to support the education of Lake County students,” said George Taylor, director of the Lake County Library System. “We want to give our youth the tools they need to succeed and having a library card is a great place to start.”
