Cagan Crossings Community Library Chess Tournament

The Cagan Crossings Friends of the Library are sponsoring a chess tournament on National Chess Day, Saturday, October 11th at the Cagan Library. The tournament is officially sanctioned by the United States Chess Federation (USCF) and the format is: 5SS/G40/D5. Entry fee for the sanctioned tournament is $30 cash or check in advance or $40 cash only at the door. Grand Master fees will be waived. Another free tournament is also being run concurrently, for which no USCF membership is required.

Please arrive before 8:45 a.m. with your USCF identification, which is required to win any of the cash prizes. Memberships can be acquired thru the USCF website at: Prizes awarded for the sanctioned tournament are: $150/75/30 after ten paid registrations pro-rated, and increased by $50/25/10 for each 5 paid registrations thereafter. Chess medals will be awarded for top 3 places in the free-entry tournament.

Please bring a set and chess clock if possible and arrive promptly by 8:45 a.m. for registration so that matches can proceed as scheduled. Lunch break is included in the match schedule which continues thru to 5 p.m. Awards will be determined immediately after the conclusion using SwissSys8 software.
