Trash to Fashion Awards is an arts and cultural experience that now spans ages 11 to 25.
This year, the Trash to Fashion event was honored to include judges from the recycling, business and entertainment communities.
The Lake County Library System hosted the second annual Trash to Fashion Contest, a spectacular teen fashion extravaganza featuring eco-outfits from
recycled or waste materials, on Saturday, October 22 at the Cooper Memorial Library in Clermont, Fla.
This program invited our teens to think outside the recycle bin and design a piece of wearable art, fashion, or an accessory based on the creative use of "trash" — found,
salvaged, scavenged, and repurposed materials.

Trash to Fashion will include live music, refreshments and unique fashions. Fashionista diva and teenage vampire, Gina Covello, star of the Vamped novels will emcee the show with her author Lucienne Diver. Lucienne is the author of the popular Vamped series of young adult novels (think Clueless meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer). School Library Journal calls the first book, “a lighthearted, action-packed, vampire romance story following in the vein of Julie Kenner’s “Good Ghouls” (Berkley), Marlene Perez’s “Dead” (Harcourt), and Rachel Caine’s “The Morganville Vampires” (Signet) series.” VOYA has suggested that the books “will attract even reluctant readers.”
Entertainment will be provided by Gina and Lisa Gomez. These recording artists and twin sisters are members of the band Gemeni.
Combining strong vocals, tight harmonies, poetic lyrics and pop inspired melodies, the twins want to bring art to pop music and bring thought and depth to the masses.
Also appearing will be VaudeVillains, a comedy troupe out of Clermont, Fl. These talented young actors have performed at numerous events including this year's International Fringe Festival.

Mandi Paige, LCLS Teen Coordinator
The show will be stage managed and projected on the big screen by the Film and Television Production students from Lake Minneola High School under the direction of Stuart Klatte. After the contest, pictures of your outfit and/or accessory will be posted on our website and available for download.

and Fashion Is The New Me fashion blog on the Lake County Library System TeenLib website. She has worked on
two events for the Festival of the Reading, and was the promoter for the 2011 Lake County Battle of The Bands.

Now Nikki’s all grown up and in charge of a clothing store full of beautiful outfits for women. Some customers consider her their own personal wardrobe consultant, which makes her job even more fun.
Emcee
Gina Covello (aka Lucienne Diver)
Joining us again this year to emcee the show is the spectacular Gina Covello. Gina, the 17-year-old fashionista of the undead, is back and as sassy as ever. “Thoroughly enjoyable, … listening in on Gina’s thoughts and quick-witted dialogue is what makes this such a treat.” - Kirkus Reviews
Lucienne Diver is the author of the popular Vamped series of young adult novels (think Clueless meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
Her short stories have been included in the Strip-Mauled and Fangs for the Mammaries anthologies edited by Esther Friesner (Baen Books), and her essay on abuse is included in the upcoming anthology Dear Bully: 70 Authors Tell Their Stories(HarperTeen). 2011 saw the launch of Bad Blood, the first novel in her Latter-Day Olympians series of contemporary fantasy, set in LA and featuring a heroine who can, quite literally, stop men in their tracks. Long and Short Reviews gave it her favorite pull-quote of all times, "Bad Blood is a delightful urban fantasy, a clever mix of Janet Evanovich and Rick Riordan, and a true Lucienne Diver original." She can now die happy, though maybe not just yet.
