1st Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration

East Lake County Library will be hosting the “1st Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration” on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 10 am till 2pm. This event will highlight the rich heritage of the Latino community and the impact Hispanics have made in our community. A number of exciting activities will be offered including a bilingual story time and craft for children. A beginner’s class for adults is designed as an introduction to conversational Spanish. This will be taught by guest Sandra Lara.

Erick Hernandez Rodriguez, Community Officers' Representative from the Mexican Consulate will be present to discuss all services offered by the consulate office located in Orlando, FL.  Lake County Supervisor of Elections will be in the library registering interested residents. Workforce of Central Florida will be onsite to discuss job opportunities. Lake Technical Center will provide information on the GED program and Lake County Fire Station 39 will educate children on fire safety and offer an opportunity to get up close to a real fire engine.   El Paso Meat Market will also be on site selling authentic Mexican food.

The event will include displays from community businesses, Catherine Hanson Real Estate Inc., River Oaks Animal Hospital,and Jones Fire and Security, LLC and more!  Lake Sumter State College students from the Nursing Program will be providing free blood pressure checks.
