The work of aspiring young filmmakers will be premiered at the Second Annual Lake County Library System Teen Video Showcase from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on May 6 at the W. T. Bland Public Library, 1995 N. Donnelly St., Mt. Dora.
Videos created by young filmmakers across the United States, including Florida's winner in the National Teen Video Challenge, will be shown. At the conclusion of the Showcase, one video created by a Lake County teen will be awarded $150 by sponsor Insight Credit Union. Additionally, one teen will win $50 for dressing up in “red carpet” attire in celebration of this ceremonial occasion.
Each video entry is a unique interpretation of the 2016 national Collaborative Summer Library Program teen slogan “Get in the Game. READ.” The videos, which promote reading and libraries, were submitted by teens from Groveland, Sorrento, Leesburg, Tavares, Astor and Paisley.
This is a free event sponsored by the Lake County Library System, the W. T. Bland Public Library, and Insight Credit Union. For information, call Linda Goff at 352-253-6169 or email her at lgoff@mylakelibrary.org.
