Everyone is invited to attend our Chanukah Family Fun! 2015 event at the Cooper Memorial Library on Wednesday, December 9th, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in our community room 108. All ages are welcome to join us for a fun-filled afternoon to celebrate Chanukah, the Festival of Lights.
Chanukah celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, and Chanukah customs include eating foods fried in oil, like sufganiyot (deep-fried doughnuts), playing with the dreidel (a spinning top inscribed with Hebrew letters), and the giving of gelt (gifts of money, chocolate coins) to children, to inspire them and to remind adults to make tzedakah (charity) a central part of their lives. Kids and the whole family will enjoy the holiday stories, songs, crafts, games, music, candy, and prizes, plus there’ll be plenty of chocolate coins! Join Rabbi Steve at the library for an afternoon of holiday family fun and come celebrate Chanukah with us!
