The East Lake County Library is holding the 13th annual Poetry Contest in honor of April as National Poetry Month. Entries are being accepted now until May 2, 2015. Inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month, held every April, is the largest literary celebration in the world with schools, publishers, libraries, booksellers, and poets celebrating poetry’s vital place in our culture.
The Poetry Contest is for all ages and will be separated into three age groups, children, teens and adults. Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each age group. Guidelines and entry forms are available on the website www.mylakelibrary.org/poetry_contest/default.aspx
There is no limit to how many entries that can be submitted by one person. Entries can be submitted by downloading the entry form and returning it along with the poetry to the East Lake County Library 31340 C.R. 437 South, Sorrento, FL. Entries may also be submitted online.
