Dreams and Nightmares Epic Opening

Lake County Library System’s 12th annual Lake BookFest will feature an Epic Opening on Thursday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the beautiful new Tavares Pavilion on the Lake. We have received official information from Orlando's USS Haven Star Trek Club that Klingons are coming along with Federation Officers. Their mission is to seek out new life-forms, to explore space, and to boldly be available for photos and the spreading of interplanetary goodwill.

Once Upon a Time Princess will be showcasing Rapunzel, the Red Headed Scottish Princess, Sleeping Beauty and the Snow Queen. Each costume is made with a love for fairytales and magic with precision, dedication, and a little bit of pixie dust!

A grand Queen Amidala will be visiting as well as The Guardians of Gallifrey, Central Florida's Doctor Who fan club celebrating all things Who with a Dalek, an Alpha Centauri creature and a Tardis photo op. Comic artist Joe Luby will be offering a Superhero Figure Drawing Demo with an opportunity to take a sample home!

A fantastic Tavares basket will be raffled. It contains an evening at the new Key West Resort, a ride on the Orange Blossom Cannonball, gift certificates for 441 Diner, Lake Dora Sushi and Sake, Pastore’s Downtown Pizzeria, Pico de Gallo Mexican Restaurant and Zac’s Pressed for Time Café. A beautiful City of Tavares Public Library ornament and the definitive book on Tavares by Historian and Vice Mayor, Bob Grenier will also be included.

Of course there will be book signing opportunities with the featured authors, Vivi Barnes, Dana Cameron, Karen Chance, Lucienne Diver, Susan Klaus, Amy Christine Parker, Leigh Perry, Nicole Peeler, Caighlan Smith and C. L. Wilson. Refreshments will be provided by the Tavares High School Culinary Department under the direction of Chef Marcus Herrington, CEC.

The Pavilion is located in Wooten Park in downtown Tavares, 200 S. Disston. This event is free, thanks in part to the Friends of Tavares Library.  The complete schedule of events is available on the Lake County Library System website at www.mylakelibrary.org/festival_of_reading/2015/calendar.aspx  or by calling 352-253-6167.
