Doe Skull Light Bulb
By Katie Hacic

The doe skull light bulb

The sight seeps in gently
and cloaked in a yellow haze
A delicate machine wrapped up and sealed with
    fur.

Her body contracts at the neck
at the sound of leaves
and the smell of snow
her soft features find their way
to the smallest clearing on this side of the dream

Across the forest I have heard of her beauty and bones.
filled with a hunger to know, and my mind
disoriented, I trek to the golden-crystal-blond empty circle
            At the border she lay
I know this is the female I see.
and she is more, than a doe.
