Tavares Public Library

The City of Tavares Public Library is located downtown Tavares, America’s Seaplane City. The Tavares Public Library connects patrons with experiences, materials, and technology in order to make a positive impact in their lives. The Tavares Public Library manages three Little Free Libraries located in Aesop’s Park, Ingraham Park, and Wooton Park. The Library’s book bike and Library’s mascot, Captain Tallas, are popular features at city events. In 2022, the Tavares Public Library completed a 2500 square foot expansion. The expansion was designed by DLR Group and was funded by the Lake County Library Impact Fees. Original seaplane photography, taken over Lake Dora, is permanently displayed in the Expansion.

The City of Tavares Public Library presents the Summer Reading Olympics: Read for the Gold!  The Olympic spirit will come to the City of Tavares Public Library this summer as readers OF ALL AGES will be encouraged to read for the gold. Pageantry, music, trophies, and more. Opening Ceremony is Monday, June 3 at 4 p.m. Closing Ceremony is Monday, July 15 at 4 p.m.
